Castel San Giovanni is located on a hill overlooking Finalborgo, which is a borough of Finale in Liguria, at an elevation of 50 metres above sea level. This area is rich of history, tracks of human settlements that date back to the prehistory, and it is recommended to the lovers of trekking and rock climbing.The tower was built in order to control the area. The rest of the building had been developed under the Spanish power which later built the Beretta Street (1666). Around 1870, it became a female prison.
